Serving Danbury, Connecticut and the surrounding area, Danbury-VITA, INC. offers free preparation and e-filing of Federal and State income tax returns to people with moderate income ($60,000 or less).  We operate under the auspices of the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, and returns are prepared, quality-reviewed and e-filed by IRS-certified, unpaid volunteers. Although regulated by the IRS we receive no government funding and depend upon donations from individuals and local businesses.

We offer two convenient locations: 152 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury, CT and the New Milford (CT) Public Library. It’s very easy to make an appointment online, just click here and follow the instructions.

We also service walk-in clients without appointments on a time-permitting basis.  However, if you arrive without an appointment, please recognize that clients with appointments will always be served first and that we may not be able to help you if we are too busy.  If you would like to check on how busy we are before going to the office, please feel free to call us during our normal business hours.

Pursuant to IRS Publication 4053, Danbury-VITA does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, national origin, reprisal, disability or age . Taxpayers with a disability may request a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in or receive the benefits of our program.

Those wishing to prepare their own tax return are urged to check out, which enables you to file your federal and state tax returns for free. MyFreeTaxes is offered by United Way, a non-profit, and is powered by H&R Block’s premium software product.
